Hello, kids! TA-DA!

I must admit it has been difficult to know wthat to say on this, my virgin post. First of all, thank you, BC for not only helping set up my new blog but for giving me the BMW Z4 M Roadster of Blog sites!* And thank you to everyone who gave advice/opinions/tips and suggestions on titles, banners, posts, names, and most importantly the encouragement to keep on writing.

So here it is! Now what? I've spent the last few weeks creating this site...now you want me to actually POST something?! sigh....FINE.

So what SHOULD I say on this, my inaugural post on this virgin blog site? Should I outline my vision? My 'plan' for The Scarlett Letters? I was thinking that a brief manifesto of sorts on the direction, theme or tone of this blog might be appropriate. But then I remembered...I never have been a stickler for propriety (much to my mother's dismay).

The truth seems to be that when it comes to creative endeavors, as is the case with so many other (and some would argue more important) things in life, that one's creations, no matter how carefully planned at the outset, will inevitably take on a mind of their own. Case and point - my last blog - which was never intended to become the shrine to redheaded fabulousness that you all came to love. So I figure this time around, I'll save myself the trouble and just open the proverbial flood gates and pop the champagne. Lucky you!

However, I do know this - that my current intent, besides my usual ranting, observations, general life reporting and satirical commentary destined to inhabit the vast majority of red lettered content, is to praise, highlight, and encourage 'Scarlett' women the world over.

I'm still codifying the exact meaning of that phrase but so far my working definition falls somewhere within the lines of: a woman who may described as: bold, feisty, difficult, unconventional, 'bad', impulsive, bitchy, strong, passionate, improper, rule breaker, trouble starter. A woman who would rather be 'branded' as any of the above terms (when, in fact they are doing nothing more scandalous than their male counterparts), rather than fall down and give up her independence, beliefs, or identidy. Known examples: Elizabeth Wurtzel, Vivien Leigh, Amanda Chapel, Peggy Guggenheim, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Angelina Jolie, Amelia Earhart, Princess Di, Elizabeth Cady Stanton. and, of course - Hester Prynne, the patron saint of this blog. These are the women to admire. These are the women to look up to. These are the women to adore.

But there will be plenty of time for that adoration, commentary and fodder. For the moment, I am am just glad you are here and damn! It's good to be back.**
